A corporate culture based on a unique model: the SCOP

[Translate to anglais:]

The Up Group is unique for its promotion of strong values that benefit the collective interests of all; these are the structural pillars of its daily operating culture.
They have been central to the growth of our Group for almost 60 years, and are fully integrated into our corporate project.

Our unique identity

The Up Group parent company was formed as an employee-owned cooperative underpinned by a series of strongly held principles:

  • a democratic company structure based on one person = one vote
  • balanced growth and development
  • a commitment to social dialogue and social progress within the company
  • a commitment to society both inside and outside the company
  • close attention to caring for our environment

These robust commitments have shaped the unique identity of today’s Up Group. They are integral to our corporate culture in all our operating countries. Each of our subsidiary companies builds its development around cooperation and co-creation with all its stakeholders.

The Up Group offers a new and different vision of what a business should be.

Up culture and its 5 values

The Up Group is unique for its promotion of strong values that benefit the collective interests of all; these are the structural pillars of its daily operating culture.

They have been central to the growth of our Group for almost 60 years, and are fully integrated into our corporate project.

  • ENGAGEMENT: “we are all active contributors to the success of the Group”
  • INNOVATION: “we promote openness, curiosity and creativity”
  • SOLIDARITY: “we focus our time and expertise on our collective mission and shared ambition”
  • ENTREPRENEURSHIP: “we encourage initiative and the acceptance of greater responsibility for the collective benefit”
  • FAIRNESS: “we pay close attention to ensuring a broad diversity of situations and people” (learn more about our commitment to diversity and inclusion)

Our mission

The Up Group creates payment solutions and services that are socially beneficial and promote local purchasing, providing companies and local authorities with the resources needed to actively improve purchasing power and quality of life for employees, public-sector staff and society as a whole. It campaigns to promote universal access to healthier food, as well as cultural and leisure activities, at the same time as promoting a more responsible model of consumption.

Its most familiar brands in France are the UpDéjeuner meal voucher, UpCadhoc gift vouchers, Chèque Lire book voucher and Chèque Culture events voucher.

The parent company UpCoop became a mission-driven company in January 2023, with a stated corporate purpose of “Using long-term cooperation to deliver socially beneficial purchasing power and promote local purchasing”. This corporate purpose is now integral to its articles of association.

Employee engagement

Encouraging active employee engagement in all its subsidiary companies is a key issue for the Up Group, and feeds through predominantly in their direct involvement in social dialogue, and through socially beneficial initiatives outside the company.

To further increase its social impact, the Group is committed to developing links with other social solidarity stakeholders and encouraging a wider culture of engagement. Its solidarity initiatives help to put its entrepreneurial policy into practice, at the same time as strengthening the sense of belonging among employees, and their pride in being part of the Group.

Opportunities for social engagement are available to employees through initiatives such as:

  • Voluntarily devoting time and/or putting skills to work for partners of the Up Foundation
  • Salary rounding: employees can make a monthly donation of a few cents from their salary to benefit a charitable organisation or project
  • Solidarity collections to help the most disadvantaged in society and contribute to the expansion of a sustainable circular economy

Employees are also encouraged to suggest socially beneficial initiatives, as well as to sponsor or publicise projects that contribute to the wider social dynamic of the Up Group.

They are also entitled to one day of paid leave to take part in one of the short voluntary assignments offered by the Up Foundation. *

We live in an increasingly volatile, connected and digital world, which is shifting the focus of our businesses towards new opportunities. We have a duty to support these organisational transformations, at the same time as acting on our social responsibility as a group of companies operating in the social and solidarity economy.
